Fees and SCHOLARSHIPS

All trainings on the Gender Training Platform cost a fee. The trainers on the training platform are all independent professionals who run their own small businesses. We currently do not receive any donor funding for these trainings nor for the scholarships. The fees we charge are how we are paid for our labor, creativity, care, and experience. These trainings and the knowledge we share with you are our livelihood. It enables us to care for ourselves and our communities.

In other words, when we offer a scholarship, we are accepting a reduction in fee for our labor. There is currently no separate scholarship fund that covers the difference in cost.

There are three primary ways that individuals can pay to attend our trainings:

  1. Your employer or your organization’s donor pays the cost. We aim to use a “redistributive model” where individuals and organizations with more resources and wealth pay more than individuals and organizations that have less. If you need help requesting funding from your organization, you can use this letter as a template.

  2. You pay the costs yourself. There is a reduced price for people who are self-paying. This is the Tier 2 rate listed on the training webpage.

  3. You can apply for a scholarship. We offer three types of scholarships that will help you cover the cost of the training. All scholarships are limited and not everyone who applies for a scholarship will receive one. Our primary basis of determining scholarships is based on financial need. Read more about our scholarships below.

Scholarships

Cynara is committed to providing accessible learning. We’re proud to offer three types of scholarships for trainings on our Gender Training Platform. When applying for a scholarship, remember that when we offer a scholarship, we are accepting a reduction in pay for our labor. There is currently no separate scholarship fund that covers the difference in cost.

  • Financial aid scholarship. Recipients pay $100 USD.

  • Student or early career professional scholarship. Recipients pay $385 USD. This is for students or professionals who are in the early stages of their career or are in a career transition and who do not have the income, savings, or an employer, funder, scholarship, or other sponsor who can pay their fee.

  • Accessibility accommodation scholarship. This scholarship covers the cost of an accommodation a participant may need to fully participate, such as translation or sign language interpretation. It does not cover the cost of participation. The scholarship amount depends on the accommodation that is needed.

All scholarships are limited

Our ability to give out scholarships relies on well-resourced organizations and individuals paying for the full price of the course to offset the cost of scholarships. When applying for a scholarship, please take this into consideration.
